Via het in vitro model werd de interactie tussen het orale microbioom en de humane epitheel cellen in behandeling van 5-FU getest bij zowel gezonde personen als mucositis patiënten. Daarnaast werd ook het probiotisch effect van een pure cultuur bekeken voor de eptiheliale wondeheling.
