Vluchtelingen, een vloek of een zegen?

Vandaag de dag is er niemand die de vluchtelingencrisis nog kan ontkennen. Miljoenen mensen zijn op de vlucht omwille van oorlogen, politieke instabiliteit, vrees voor de integriteit, ...

De vluchtelingencrisis van vandaag is de grootste sinds de twee Wereldoorlogen, grotendeels veroorzaakt door instabiliteit in Afrika enerzijds en anderzijds door de Arabische lente gevolgd door het gruwelijk machtsvertoon van IS.
Mensen die hun land ontvluchten om elders een beter leven te leiden en een rooskleurige toekomst op te bouwen voor hun gezin, gaan door vuur om toch maar weg te geraken uit de vuurlinie. Voor velen is het hun laatste reis, want er zijn heel wat individuen die de reis niet overleven.

Individuen die de reis wel overleven, hebben dringende en primaire hulp nodig. Primaire hulp in de zin van eten, onderdak voorzien, medische hulp, ... Naast deze basisbehoeften, moet er ook ondersteuning zijn op juridisch vlak, op professioneel vlak bij het zoeken naar een job, ...

Deze hulp betaalt zichzelf natuurlijk niet. Veel landen draaien hun rug wanneer er nog maar gesproken wordt over vluchtelingen of over opvang. Landen zijn bang voor hun staatsveiligheid en de integriteit van de eigen inwoners. Daarnaast, zoals reeds gezegd, heeft dit een niet te onderschatten kostenplaatje. Hoewel Europa en de internationale gemeenschap zijn steentje bijdraagt, moet er toch ook een zeker initiatief komen van de individuele landen en dat is voor velen een brug te ver omdat ze al genoeg budgettaire problemen hebben.

Hoewel, er zijn ook landen die vluchtelingen met open armen verwelkomen. Duitsland en Zweden bijvoorbeeld zien vluchtelingen als een opportuniteit. Een opportuniteit om vergrijzing tegen te gaan bijvoorbeeld of een kans om sociale integratie en interactie te bevorderen in eigen land. Veel landen zouden naar dit voorbeeld moeten handelen want het is een win-winsituatie.
