Systeemkwaliteit is belangrijk voor het online succes van een robo-advisor

Aan de KU Leuven campus in Antwerpen heeft een student Handelswetenschappen in het kader van zijn masterproef trachten te achterhalen wat het succes van een robo-advisor verklaart. Hierbij is een analyse gemaakt van een reeks aan internationale robo-advisors en daaruit is gebleken dat systeemkwaliteit belangrijk is voor het online succes van een robo-advisor.

Uit het onderzoek is vastgesteld dat een robo-advisor moet voldoen aan criteria van systeemkwaliteit om als succesvol te worden beschouwd. Meer specifiek wil dat zeggen dat een robo-advisor beschikbaar moet zijn op zowel PC, mobiel als via een applicatie en moet de tool van de advisor duidelijk toegankelijk zijn op de website. Daarnaast is er ook vastgesteld dat robo-advisors die voldoen aan criteria van dienstkwaliteit en informatiekwaliteit slechter scoren en als niet succesvol worden beschouwd. Tot slot toont het onderzoek ook aan dat robo-advisors uit Amerika succesvoller zijn dan robo-advisors uit België.

Eerdere studies tonen aan dat zowel de criteria die worden verstaan onder systeemkwaliteit, dienstkwaliteit als informatiekwaliteit een bijdrage leveren aan het succes van informatiesystemen. Aangezien informatiesystemen een ruim begrip vormen, is er onderzoek gedaan naar specifiek robo-advisors. Hieruit is dus geconcludeerd dat er daadwerkelijk verschillen in succescriteria zijn. Het doel van de student was om een model te creëren dat weergeeft waaraan robo-advisors moeten voldoen om zich goed in de markt te kunnen positioneren. Door het feit dat hiernaar geen eerder onderzoek is gedaan, is de student Handelswetenschappen hierin de eerste onderzoeker.

De analyse is van start gegaan door eerst een lijst aan criteria op te stellen die gebaseerd zijn op het Business Model Canvas, het Technology Acceptance Model, het Information System Succes Model en verdere uitbreidingen daarop. Daarna zijn er 40 robo-advisors geanalyseerd, waarbij een wereldwijde scope is toegepast. De onderzochte criteria werden gekoppeld aan de Web of Trust-indicatie van elke website om op die manier het succes te achterhalen.
