Tegenwoordig zie je het overal terugkomen, de circulaire economie. Maar wat is dat nu? En hoe moeten we dat doen? Een onderzoek aan de Universiteit Gent biedt een eerste antwoord op deze vragen.
Circulariteit
De circulaire economie komt in onze omgeving voor zonder dat we het zelf doorhebben. Het papier dat u iedere maand buitenzet, batterijen, vloertapijten en zelfs auto's worden gerecycleerd en hergebruikt om nieuwe producten te maken. Dat is wat de circulaire economie nastreeft voor alle producten. Het biedt een alternatief voor de huidige verbruikseconomie, dat een goed na gebruik wegsmijt, vanwege haar grote druk op het milieu. Vandaag de dag wordt de circulaire economie toegankelijker door nieuwe technologieën. Studies uit het verleden tonen aan dat bedrijven dit ook willen toepassen maar de kennis ontbreken over hoe ze dit moeten doen.
Wat hebben we gedaan?
Om dit kennisprobleem op te lossen heeft de Universiteit Gent een onderzoek verricht dat uitzocht welke interne en externe personen een rol spelen bij een circulair product en welke informatie een bedrijf hiervoor nodig heeft. Verschillende methodes en theorieën werden gebruikt om een theoretisch model op te stellen dat daarna via interviews, met ondernemingen die al een circulair proces toepassen, ook aan de praktijk werd aangepast.
Hoe moeten we het nu gaan doen?
Op deze manier kwamen er twee werelden samen die voordien onafhankelijk werden onderzocht en werd er uiteindelijk een lijst opgesteld van te communiceren informatie. Het onderzoek kon concluderen dat als organisaties hun producten circulair ontwerpen, de consument kan terugvinden of het al dan niet circulair is en deze producten na hun verbruiksperiode opnieuw kan inleveren om te recycleren men grote stappen zal zetten naar een circulaire toekomst!
