Digitalisation & Corruption is analysed by means of a longitudinal study of a large cross-section of countries. Modeled through fixed effects, we present evidence that digitalisation may lower corruption.

Yet, despite the centrality of the issue, there is little research asking whether there is indeed a distinctive nature to performing live. This master thesis employs techniques of ethnographic research, analysis and qualitative interviewing to explore empirically originating understandings of how ‘liveness’ influences music performance from artist’s perspective. The topic is highly relevant and challenging as it explores the importance of performing live as opposed to mediatised performance (radio, TV broadcasts, CD recordings). ‘Liveness’ is a concept that applies to the theatre and music but not to the other forms of arts, such as visual arts, literature since the core of ‘liveness’ lies within the simultaneous presence of the artist and the audience. In terms of scope of literature in this area, this specific topic is still rather under-researched with growing interest in its relevance. Whereas there are many researchers and articles exploring ‘liveness’ in theatre or from audience perception, this thesis fills the niche of the impact of performing live upon the artist in the field of music.

In dit onderzoek werp ik licht op de wijze waarop niet-moslims in islamitisch Spanje tussen 900 en 1200 door het islamitisch recht werden beschreven en hoe deze beschrijvingen zich verhielden tot de dagelijkse sociale werkelijkheid. Hiermee toon ik enerzijds aan dat moslims toleranter waren dan veelal gedacht, en dat er een kloof was tussen de geschreven formaliteit van het islamitisch recht en de werkelijkheid van alledag anderzijds.

Een onderzoek naar de nationale verschillen van inzet voor Somalische piraterijbestrijding (2009-2011). Theorieën over seapower en maritieme veiligheid worden getoetst, waarbij onderzocht wordt wat de relatie is tussen maritieme veiligheid, globalisatie en nationaal belang.

Deze masterproef poogt te onderzoeken op welke manier beelden in staat blijken om
de toeschouwer een zekere vorm van intrusie op te leggen. Hierbij zal er worden
ingezoomd op de rol van de close-up en het psychologische effect dat deze kan
hebben op het publiek. De techniek zal allereerst nauwkeurig beschreven worden op
basis van de definitie van Barry Salt (1992). De studie zal daarnaast onder andere
voortbouwen op de uitgangspunten van Münsterberg en Benjamin.
Perceptiepsycholoog Munsterberg zag namelijk al vroeg in over welke potentie de
close-up beschikte en welk psychologisch effect het had op de toeschouwer. Hij was
een van de eerste die zich verdiepte in de psychologische structuren die ten
grondslag liggen aan een methode als de close-up

De vraagstelling die in deze masterproef centraal staat is: wat is een actuele invulling/definitie van het begrip 'metafysica'? Er wordt een brede invulling/definitie van dit begrip verdedigd.
